On April 22th, Mayor Denny Doyle of Beaverton, Oregon, visited Gigaphoton headquarters in Tochigi Prefecture of Japan. Beaverton City is located seven miles west of Portland, Oregon, and attracts many large international companies such as Nike and IBM. Gigaphoton’s US subsidiary, Gigaphoton USA Inc. (GPU), is also located in Beaverton. Mayor Doyle visited the GPU facilities for its opening ceremony in February 2012.
During his recent visit to Gigaphoton headquarters, Mayor Doyle met with Hakaru Mizoguchi, CTO, and Tatsuo Enami, Sales Division General Manager, to discuss the company’s future, vision and strategy followed by a guided tour of the clean room production facility led by Junichi Fujimoto, Production Department Manager.
At the conclusion of his visit, Mayor Doyle and Gigaphoton’s President, Hitoshi Tomaru, exchanged greetings and posed for a ceremonial photo – at which time the Mayor removed the pin badge on his chest and presented it to Mr. Tomaru as a sign of friendship. The creation of this pin badge was originally proposed by Mayor Doyle when he took office. It symbolizes multiple races and cultures live together in Beaverton.
Time flew by very quickly during this short visit, but much was gained in terms of strengthened friendship and mutual understanding of both Gigaphoton and Beaverton City. Gigaphoton and GPU are committed to expanding business in the US market, providing enhanced support and services to customers, and continuing to sharing a close relationship with the wonderful city of Beaverton.
