Gigaphoton, Inc. would like to report an updated status of our current factory operations as of March 23, 2011.

  1. Overview
    Our business operations in Oyama and Hiratsuka have been recovered.  We continue to implement existing action plans and joint actions with Suppliers, while carefully monitoring the national situation.
  2. Facility recovery status
    Our factory in Oyama, Tochigi has resumed routine operation on March 22nd. As we already reported, the EUV R&D facility in Hiratsuka, Kanagawa has been back to normal since March 18th.
  3. Supply chain
    As reported, our supply chain investigation has shown that our previous production capacity is maintained. Below is a list of concerns, our counter-actions measures and status.Measures taken
    Action plans are in effect for two concerns; supply volume of some ancillary materials, as well as production relocation of the supplier directly affected by the disaster.

    Measures under discussion
    Some optics companies will encounter production issues due to interruption caused by planned, rotating power outages. Our laser and parts production lines are unaffected in the meantime using stock on hand.  Gigaphoton and our Suppliers are in joint discussions in case of future issues.

  4. Other common risks
    Risks common to all companies in eastern and northern Japan are known. At this point we conclude they will not have a serious impact.

    • Nuclear power plant in Fukushima. A local evacuation was ordered by the Japanese government within a 30 kilometer radius of the plant. Gigaphoton’s factories are at least 165 kilometers away from Fukushima, a safe enough distance based on information available today.
    • Planned power outages. There is no impact on our production plan by these rotating power outages. Gigaphoton has a private power generator that will cover our essential needs.
    • Logistics interruptions. Logistics disturbances are now under control. We have not seen any impact on our incoming or outgoing shipments and anticipate no major problems under current conditions.

We are pleased to report that Gigaphoton successfully recovered routine factory operations. We will proceed with existing containment action plans in partnership with our suppliers and carefully watch local conditions. We are sure to provide you with the next report whenever we encounter any significant changes that need to be brought to your attention.

Sincerely Yours,

Yuji Watanabe

E-mail: kenji_takahisa@gigaphoton.com3
