ギガフォトン株式会社（本社: 栃木県小山市、代表取締役社長: 渡辺裕司、http://www.gigaphoton.com/ ）は、100%出資の米国法人Gigaphoton USA Inc.(本社: オレゴン州ビーバートン)を設立し、2008年4月より業務を開始すると発表しました。ギガフォトンは米国法人を通して、装置メーカー各社と共に新規エンドユーザー開拓を積極的に展開するほか、米国内3ヵ所のサポート拠点を中心に、既存ユーザーに対する現地サポート体制確立に取り組みます。
ギガフォトンは2005年以降、米国市場での積極的な新規開拓事業を展開しており、既に大手半導体メーカーへの新規参入を果たしています。米国法人設立は、現地でのカスタマサポート体制の基盤整備が重要と判断した結果、決定されたものです。
米国法人設立について、ギガフォトン社長の渡辺裕司は次のコメントを発表しています。「当社にとって、米国市場における企業認知確立は極めて重要です。既存のエンドユーザーへのサポート体制強化のみならず、新技術に敏感な市場の要求への迅速な対応を目指して設立された米国法人は、これらの業務を通して企業認知確立というゴール達成に貢献するものと期待しています。」

http://www.gigaphoton.com/OYAMA, JAPAN, FEBRUARY 25, 2008 — Gigaphoton Inc., a major lithography light source manufacturer for the global semiconductor industry, today announced its expansion in the U.S. with its subsidiary, Gigaphoton USA Inc., to be located in Beaverton, Oregon. Slated to open this April, Gigaphoton USA Inc. is set to substantially strengthen support for the company’s growing U.S. customer base. This expansion follows on the heels of heightened adoption of Gigaphoton’s laser light sources by several major U.S. device manufacturers, and the impending growth opportunities the U.S. market yields. With 40% share worldwide, Gigaphoton continues to achieve dominance in the laser light source market – gaining momentum year-over-year.
Heading Gigaphoton USA Inc. as President and Chief Executive Officer will be Hitoshi Tomaru. In this role, Tomaru is responsible for all U.S. operations. Prior to this appointment, he most recently served as Gigaphoton’s corporate vice president and the general manager for U.S. and Europe operations where he oversaw market development in the U.S., sales and support. Prior to joining Gigaphoton, Tomaru held various high-level and general management positions at Komatsu, Ltd.
“With one-fifth of the worldwide market in the U.S., we’re fully committed to establishing our presence in the microlithography arena here, not only to enhance our support capabilities for our current customer base, but also to reach the new opportunities the market continues to hold,” said Tomaru. Currently, Gigaphoton has customer support bases in Fishkill, New York, Austin, Texas and Newberg, Oregon. The new Beaverton facility will replace the present office in Newberg—providing service and support for the existing laser in the U.S., customer training and technical support for U.S. customers.
