Gigaphoton launches free trial access to Fabscape, the semiconductor industry’s premier open platform for vendor-independent data monitoring, management, and analytics



OYAMA,Japan – August 2, 2022&nbsp;–&nbsp;<a href="https://gigaphoton.com">Gigaphoton&nbsp;Inc.</a>, a manufacturer of lightsources used in semiconductor lithography, today announced the launch of the Fabscape trial program for developers. The trial will provide participants with free access to various developer tools for Fabscape, an open platform built to streamline equipment monitoring and analytics for the global semiconductor industry. &nbsp;







Fabscape is an open, end-to-end data and application platform that can allow chip manufacturers to develop applications that retrieve, transform, visualize, and utilize data across virtually all tools in the production line, regardless of the vendor. Built on a microservices architecture the vendor-independent platform enables developers to quickly build and deploy custom solutions using virtually any programming language as well as leverage existing code.







Yuji Minegishi, General Manager at Gigaphoton said, “Through years of working with global semiconductor manufacturers, we noticed that each one struggles with unique challenges that became increasingly complex as chip technology advanced. We realized that juggling multiple proprietary software solutions was only increasing these challenges for our customers. There had to be a better way. To help solve the problems we regularly see across the industry, Gigaphoton was inspired to develop an open, vendor-independent data and application platform that could be used to build exactly what chip manufacturers need, regardless of the vendors they do business with.”







The Fabscape platform is newly released to the public, but Gigaphoton has been perfecting the open platform over the past five years by using it to develop custom intelligence solutions for their customers. Many of the largest semiconductor manufacturers across the globe have been using the platform for years to support Gigaphoton lightsources. Now, they (and anyone) can use it to build and integrate solutions across their entire production line.

In recent years, demand for semiconductors has increased significantly, and as major semiconductor customers in various countries are strengthening their supply chains, investment in the semiconductor industry is further accelerated.



Gigaphoton, a leading manufacturer of lightsources used in semiconductor lithography, is also seeing increased market demand. To meet this increase in demand, Gigaphoton has invested about 5 billion yen in the construction of the new facility to increase its production capacity. Construction began in July of this year, with completion expected in June 2023. This will increase our total production capacity by 2.5 times compared to FY2020.

2022.2.16 ‘G300K’, which was developed under the concept of ‘optimizing processing’ for the likes of micro ablation, was adopted as it was judged to be the best possible excimer laser for carrying out the research.

OYAMA, Japan – January 7, 2022 – Gigaphoton Inc., (Head Office: Oyama, Tochigi; President and CEO: Katsumi Uranaka), a manufacturer of light sources used in semiconductor lithography, today released the results of a survey that provides insights into the current state of the semiconductor manufacturing industry. The results reveal significant gaps in semiconductor manufacturing analytics capabilities that could help solve the semiconductor shortage and unleash intelligence for the global semiconductor industry.



The Gigaphoton survey reveals unmet analytics needs that offer a roadmap to what the semiconductor industry must do to meet growing demand and help solve the chip shortage. Shrinking chip sizes and advancing technology are challenging the ability of semiconductor manufacturers to sustain uptime and yield. At the same time, worldwide demand is increasing, and shortages throughout the supply chain have forced semiconductor manufacturers to focus their attention on using analytics to gain efficiencies with their equipment and processes.



“As semiconductor manufacturing processes have become more complex, we’ve seen an increase in customer requests for more advanced intelligence into our tools, and each customer needs something unique. Since COVID, we believe these requests will be compounded further as semiconductor manufacturers scale up their chip production,” said Yuji Minegishi, General Manager at Gigaphoton.



As manufacturing processes continue to require greater precision, it has been challenging for chip manufacturers to achieve the depth and breadth of intelligence they need to increase or even sustain uptime. Currently, intelligence is siloed among proprietary analytics solutions developed by tool manufacturers and third-party analytics platforms. This creates barriers to usability which are becoming more problematic as processes become more complex.



Gigaphoton conducted a survey with 276 responses from semiconductor manufacturing respondents in all aspects of the manufacturing process. The survey showed that 73% of chip manufacturers must piece together multiple equipment analytics solutions. Despite all the solutions they use and the large investments they make on software, most still don’t have the efficient advanced analytics capabilities they need to increase uptime and output.



“The survey results reveal a significant gap in semiconductor manufacturing analytics capabilities that can’t really be filled by a single software vendor. This is a global semiconductor industry problem that will need an industry-wide solution,” said Mario Faria, Vice President and Partner, Americas at the MAX Group.

Oyama, Tochigi; October 26, 2021 &#8212; <a href="https://www.gigaphoton.com/en/">Gigaphoton Inc.</a> (Head Office: Oyama, Tochigi; President and CEO: Katsumi Uranaka), a manufacturer of light sources used in semiconductor lithography, has announced that advanced ArF immersion lithography light source “GT66A” is now fully up and running at semiconductor manufacturers around the world.
In recent years, the number of digital devices and cloud facilities has increased rapidly all over the world, and the demand for semiconductors used for such devices and facilities has also increased dramatically. Furthermore, with semiconductors playing a central role in social infrastructure, such as with the widespread adoption of DX at companies, the increase in EV production toward a carbon-neutral society, and the shift to renewable energy, the demand for semiconductors has gained further traction. Increasing demand for high-end devices that combine high-speed computing with low power consumption, especially autonomous driving and high-performance servers, is further driving this acceleration in demand.
The GT66A is a model that also supports 5 nm-node and beyond manufacturing required by semiconductors for such as leading-end devices.
The GT66A providing a feature of enhancing the EPE (Edge Placement Error) performance by reducing the speckle contrast (30%).  EPE is a key process performance requirement that there is misalignment between the layout and resist exposure pattern, needed to improve toward advanced process Node  As a result of this enhancement, the LER (line edge roughness), which indicates deviations from the edge of the designed line is not completely smooth, and the LWR (line-width roughness), which indicates the variation in width caused by this unevenness, can be suppressed, and thus an improvement in yield can be expected. In addition, the introduction of highly durable components extends the maintenance cycle by 30%, thereby improving the availability of equipment run-time and providing further productivity.

In recent years, demand all over the world for semiconductors has increased significantly, and major semiconductor manufacturers in many countries are accelerating investment in semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Gigaphoton, a manufacturer of light sources used in semiconductor lithography, is also seeing increased market demand, with demand expected to remain firm in the future.
To meet this increase in demand, Gigaphoton is constructing a new facility, with its doors to open in April 2022, in order to establish a more stable supply system. Through this initiative, Gigaphoton will double its production capacity by 2023 while maximizing the use of production equipment and streamlining and optimizing its production process.
